Victorian Mahogany 3 Panel Extending Fire Screen With Embroidered Silk Panel
- This is a beautiful and rare antique Victorian mahogany fire screen from the late 19th century. This unique and functional piece is a remarkable three-panel extending model, making it a versatile and statement piece for any room.
The screen features three panels that all extend from the central frame. The top panel slides elegantly upwards, while the two lower panels slide out to the left and right, creating a wide, protective barrier.
The front panel features a stunning, original hand-embroidered tapestry. The intricate floral design, in shades of gold, copper, and cream, is set against a dark black background, highlighting the detailed craftsmanship. The other two panels are finished with a vibrant burgundy red fabric, which provides a rich contrast to the dark mahogany frame.
The entire screen stands on a beautifully carved base with a central stretcher bar for stability. It is supported by four elegant cabriole legs, each with its original brass and ceramic casters, allowing for easy movement.
This piece is in excellent antique condition and would make a superb addition to any period home, adding a touch of authentic Victorian elegance to a living room, study, or drawing-room. It functions perfectly as a decorative screen to protect from a fireplace's embers or simply as a unique piece of furniture.
