1911 Edwardian Silver-Topped Walking Cane – Abraham Benelisha – London – Faux Bamboo
A classic Edwardian gentleman’s "walking out" cane featuring a sophisticated faux bamboo shaft. The timber has been skillfully lathe-turned into precise two-inch sections and scorched to achieve a realistic bamboo patina. This solid construction provided the elegant look of an exotic import with the durability required for daily use in the British climate.
The heavy sterling silver hook handle is struck with a complete set of London hallmarks, including the leopard's head and the date letter "q" for 1911. It bears the maker’s mark "AB" for Abraham Benelisha, a specialist London silversmith known for high-quality walking stick mounts during the "Golden Age" of the British cane.
Condition: The silver handle presents well with a deep natural luster. The faux bamboo shaft is in excellent structural order. Showing characterful signs of historic, long-vacated woodworm; this has been professionally treated and does not affect the integrity of the piece. An elegant accessory for the collector of fine Edwardian antiques.
