An attractive late Victorian to early Edwardian military swagger stick / presentation cane featuring an embossed sterling silver collar and a fine turned shaft.
Silver Collar: Fully hallmarked for sterling silver with the Birmingham anchor, Lion Passant, and the maker's mark A&L for Adie & Lovekin Ltd (Frederick Street, Birmingham). The collar features an intricate, chased foliate leaf-scroll pattern over a textured ground, secured to the shaft with traditional small silver pin rivets along the seam.
Shaft: The hardwood shaft features fine vertical graining and original "faux bamboo" nodes turned at regular intervals.
Condition: Honest historic wear throughout. The silver collar shows light surface bruising, minor seam wear, and a tiny pinhole aperture as expected for a carried piece of this age, while remaining firmly attached. The shaft is straight and solid with a deep, rich original patina.
Please note: The bottom ferrule is missing from the end of the shaft.
